Description

The lesser-known Auchroisk distillery is located in the Speyside region of Scotland and produces a smooth and fruity single malt with some toasted cereal and nutty notes. The finish in Saint-Estèphe red wine cask adds complexity bringing notes of blackcurrant and other berries and a subtle woody touch. The 57.1% bottling strength is not cask strength but a reduction. It was deliberately chosen to enhance the elegance of this single malt while maintaining the balance of the woody notes.

On the nose, the whisky presents aromas of sweet malt and nuts such as hazelnuts as well as  notes of red fruits and oak from the red wine barrel. On the palate you find flavors of malt, sweet cassis, vanilla, pear and rich caramel. The finish is fruity and delicately woody.

The combination of the spirit of this Speyside distillery and the legendary French red wine cask gives a complex and balanced tasting experience while maintaining the characteristic sweetness of the whisky.

This release shows the colorful and always experimenting Whisky Is The Limit DNA so well that it was selected for a cooperation with The Avant Gardists Project to represent the bottler.

An interesting fact: the swallow on the colorful label is the “spirit animal” that can be found on the official Flora and Fauna bottling of the distillery’s single malt.
